Starlight Youth Theatre

Meets:            Tuesday

Time:              6:30pm

Starlight Youth Theatre is an amateur musical theatre group for young people in school years 6 to 13.  We rehearse weekly on a Tuesday evening and perform two productions a year – a musical in March and a concert in June.

As well as giving our members the opportunity to perform on a stage, Starlight expands their performance skills and allows them to express their creative side.  We also aim to build the confidence of our members for both onstage and life in general.  We have many former members attending performing arts schools, both locally and in London), others working in the entertainment industry (eg Butlins) and many of our members also go on to perform with some of Loughborough’s adult amateur theatre companies.  Some members have also gone on to expand their skills in the production and technical side of putting on a show – our current Director and Choreographer were both members of the society as young people.

We are always looking for new members and hold auditions after each production, where potential members are asked to perform a musical theatre song and tell us why they would like to join the group.  There is an annual subscription fee of around £60 and a weekly subscription of £1.50.

All the adult team involved in the company are DBS checked and we have a designated adult in charge of safeguarding as well as Child Protection and Online Safety policies.
